Strikeforce: Miami Miami, FL - 1/30/10 CompuStrike Stats
Main Event Nick Diaz KO 1 Marius Zaromskis View CompuStrike Stats
Inside the Numbers: Diaz mixed his attack from head to body vs. the hard-charging Zaromskis, who employed minimal head movement. Diaz, who won the vacant StrikeForce welterweight title, took full advantage of his five inch reach edge to pepper the Dream 10 champion at will, landing 95 of 117 total strikes (81%). Diaz, fighting at a measured pace (for him anyway- remember, he landed 125 of 221 total strikes in round two vs. Scott Smith) mixed in 49 arm strikes (throwing 70- 70%) and 46 knees, thrown from the clinch. Zaromskis did floor Diaz, but could not follow up effectively.
Main Card Cris Cyborg KO 3 Marloes Coenen View CompuStrike Stats
Inside the Numbers: Cyborg, as expected, was the aggressor from the opening bell. She landed 25 of 58 total strikes in round one, including 12 arm strikes to a respectable 19 of 36 (53%) for Coenen. Twelve of Coenen’s landed strikes in the round were leg kicks- which had no visible effect on Cyborg, who landed the harder shots. Cyborg then widened the gap in rounds two and three, outstriking Coenen 56-12, with 40 of those landed strikes from the ground. Coenen landed a straight right in round three that Cyborg walked through.
Robbie Lawler KO 1 Melvin Manhoef View CompuStrike Stats
Inside the Numbers: After absorbing 23 Manhoef strikes, including ten kicks that had him gimping around the cage, Lawler had Manhoef just where he wanted him. Lawler iced Manhoef with a single right hook, then added a right hand to the already unconscious Dutchman for good measure.
Herschel Walker KO 3 Greg Nagy View CompuStrike Stats
Inside the Numbers: The 47-yr.-old cardio whiz Walker had his way with the overmatched Nagy, outstriking him 77-7. Walker, clearly more comfortable on the mat than on the feet, (although he let several submission opportunities go by) landed 69 of 91 ground strikes vs. Nagy, who spent much of the fight bent like a pretzel.
Jay Hieron W 3 Joe Riggs View CompuStrike Stats
Inside the Numbers: Hieron easily outworked Riggs in rounds one and two, building up a 83-24 edge in strikes landed. It was one strike at a time for Riggs, who got off just 55 attempts in the first two frames to 113 for Hieron. Riggs stunned Hieron with a right hook in the third, but Hieron scored a takedown (he had one in each round) to stall Riggs’ attack. |
